Jimmy James - Great Escaper from World War II

Jimmy James - Great Escaper from Stalag Luft III and former Stalag Luft I POW passed away on Friday, January 18, 2008, at the age of 92.  Click here for more info.

Moonless Night by Jimmy James - The author was one of the 76 "Great Escapers of Stalag Luft III"  and also an early resident of Stalag Luft I.  Here he relates how escaping became a way of life.  He relates in detail the only successful tunneling escape from Stalag Luft I (by his tunneling partner John Shore), the details of his escape as part of the "Great Escape" from Stalag Luft III and his escape from Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp.  A remarkable memoir, not only because the author carries the reader with him with his descriptions of the escape projects, but as a record of the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.
